Author’s
burningrepublicstate is under the intermittent care of Khairulanwar Zaini, who only writes when he feels sufficiently roused from his all-consuming indolence.
His time is divided between appeasing his reading appetite, indulging in photography and (placidly) observing the political and social affairs of the state. And sporadically, he will actually commit these inchoate observations into writing.
He also tries his best to be a hardworking undergraduate.
He believes in a nation sustained by a liberal democracy, where respect for freedom and human rights is paramount; where justice is engendered with mercy and compassion; where citizens identify with and can unequivocally call a home.
To that effect, he would advance for the continued growth of the fledging opposition (and he thinks “10, 15, 20 opposition members” in Parliament is just right for starters, unlike how PM Lee opined), greater liberalization of the body politic and the media (and he plugs TOC whom he writes for), the abolishment of capital punishment and the further employment of rehabilitative sentencing in the judiciary, and the development of a robust and effective welfare safety net to provide for the most needy.
He would be delighted to run a campaign on the abstract themes of hope and love.
